Lizzy Version of Mantras and Affirmations

Introduce topic: Mantras and Affirmations

Solid definition: Affirmations are positive statements directed towards oneself .

A Mantra is an ancient meditative practice that aids in creating an optimal experience. Sakara, translated to the manifestation of thoughts into things, reflects the idea that we are the agents of change in our own lives; we have the ability to live the life we want as the person we want to be. Repeating mantra aids in that manifestation of personal contentment through repetition of focused, conscious desire.

Using the term mantra in a tennis sentence:   "As the tennis player faced a challenging match, she repeated her mantra "stay focused, stay calm" to maintain her composure and confidence on the court."

Reasons why affirmations and mantras are important.

 1) A mantra is a word or phrase designed to help you change your thinking in the present moment.

2) A mantra is used when your mind has drifted off course and you want to steer it back to more positive waters.

3) A mantra can be used to help overcome an obstacle that stands in your path or deal with a difficult situation. (Windy.. same for her, large targets, manage your game, feet moving, short swings)

4) A personal mantra is an affirmation to motivate and inspire you to be your best self. It is typically a positive phrase or statement that you use to affirm the way you want to live your life. Its purpose is to provide motivation and encouragement to you when you need to focus your mind to achieve a goal.

5)  Creating mantras is a great way to help you learn how to cope and self-soothe when going through day-to-day life. A mantra is a saying or phrase that is created and used by a person in times of distress, discomfort, sadness or anger. Mantras derive from meditative practices and have been found to bring significant comfort to individuals who struggle with life stress.

The Tennis experience is unique. Let us work toward developing mantras/affirmations for every situation.

If we can develop them here, we can take them with us everywhere, for you may not always have access to your phone or a computer.

The purpose of affirmations is to overcome/override negative thoughts. Negative thoughts can lead to negative actions. You can use affirmations to help change your thoughts so that you think and act in a more positive manner. (You haven't lost anything yet)

Positive affirmations work best when they’re about a specific issue or concern you’re dealing with. There are so many tennis situations we encounter. Let us develop an affirmation for each. They are your rudder, they will guide you through the toughest of waters.

Repeating affirmations helps you to change your thoughts and behavior gradually. As you continue to use affirmations, you’ll begin to notice that your life is improving. You’ll be happier, your confidence will grow, and you’ll be surprised by the results. GOOD VIBES ONLY

An essential part of doing positive affirmations is not to deny your reality. Denial isn’t a good coping strategy. It’s necessary to process the tough times you’re dealing with and start working through the feelings. Affirmations are meant to acknowledge what you’re going through and how difficult it is, then help you get through the other side of this challenge.

Example: Saying Tennis is only a game is an example of denial. Candy Crush is game, Checkers is a game. Tennis is not just a a game.

Positive self-affirmations focus on affirming your self-worth by reflecting on your core values and helping give you a broader view of yourself.

When you’re repeatedly thinking something, you’re making it easier to fall into that same thinking in the future. Positive affirmations, though, help you disrupt negative thinking habits and build a new route in your brain for positive thoughts.

Short list of the benefits of using Mantras and Affirmations:

1) Increased confidence

2) Less Stress

3) Increased motivation..

4) Increased positivity

5) More Joy

6) Better Attitude

How To Build Your Own Mantras and Affirmations:

Use I or My:  Mantras are for you, so give them maximum power and effect by starting with these personal statements. Sometimes this is not possible, however, so this is a soft rule than can be broken if the right words come together.

Keep them Short: You’ll get the most out of an affirmations if you can easily remember it and easily repeat it again and again in your mind or out loud

Be Specific: Again, for a mantra to be effective, it must focus on a particular issue or challenge that you are facing in the here and now.

Be Positive:  The way you word things matters, and a good mantra will always use positive words. For example, rather than saying “I will not let X beat me,” you might say “I will beat X” instead.

Mantras and Affirmations are Tennis Talking Points. The pace of tennis does not allow for lengthy admonitions. Find something simple that works for you..

The human mind is not exactly made for tennis.  Its good for one thought at a time, which has its advantages.

If we continue to improve our mindfulness/meditation work, we will develop some control over what we think as well as what we don't attach to.

While mantras are frequently used in meditation sessions to silence mental chatter, Mantras also help you think the thoughts you want to run your life... Everyone can benefit from them. Our minds are full of noise—largely repetitive, useless, and even harmless thoughts that are on replay much of the time. A mantra can slice through these thoughts in any moment, especially when you craft one that is meaningful just to you.

Again, your personal mantra is an authentic, individualized expression. A concentrated effort to help you achieve stillness, and peace and ultimately aids in creating your optimal reality. (GOOD VIBES ONLY) Whatever that is for you at this moment, is right. As a side note, you can have multiple mantras at the ready, however when meditating with the mantra, it is important to repeat only one at a time in order to focus your energy towards one thing instead of smaller efforts towards multiple goals.

Personalize: I'll share my personal Mantra story with you another day. Conscience contact.. Usefulness Gaze contentedly  Recovery is all about it. My tennis breakthrough as a junior involved a Mantra. Eye on the Ball

But take advantage of Mantras and Affirmations: Tennis, the only sport where you can constantly talk to yourself and not only does nobody mind, everyone understands
