Facing the top seed is not just a challenge; it’s an opportunity. This is your chance to test your skills, to push your limits, and to show everyone – including yourself – what you’re capable of. Greatness isn’t achieved by avoiding tough matches; it’s achieved by embracing them.

Think about all the preparation you’ve put in. The early mornings, the late nights, the endless hours on the practice court. Every drop of sweat, every moment of frustration, every bit of progress has led you to this moment. You’re ready for this. You’ve trained for this.

When you step onto that court, leave behind any doubts and fears. Focus on your game, your strengths, and your strategy. Remember, it’s not just about who you’re playing against – it’s about how you play. Stick to your plan, play your game, and trust in your abilities.

A Few Words About The Passing Of Grayson Murray

The shocking news of 30-year-old PGA Tour star Grayson Murray's suicide last week has the sports world abuzz with talk of mental health once again. If I may add a few words to the discussion. I never met Grayson Murray, but I know him well. He suffered from alcoholism, anxiety, and depression, the soundtrack of my own troubled youth. Managing any one of these chronic afflictions can be life-altering. Having all 3 active concurrently in your life is being dealt one of life's cruelest and most insurmountable of hands. The script goes something like this. A hypersensitivity to everyday-life stimuli, oft resulting in overreactions and questionable behavior. The pattern starts early in one's youth, with anxiety and mood swings swirling and percolating privately within until the great self-medicating discovery occurs. Alcohol!! One Last Ball..

I sat fidgety atop my club's veranda trying to stay loose, stretching my cramping too-tanned legs for my final lesson of the day. Yet my client was late. Calls to his number got us nowhere, none of the girls at the desk recognized his name. Inches away from my favorite kind of lesson, the no-show, no-call, still get-paid type, I heard the rumblings of a classic car muffler circling the parking lot past the tree line. The ultimate mixed feeling. The tired sore part of me aching for early quits, the professional in me trained to be patient and understanding. My coach's periscope activated, I scanned the horizon profiling all within site when down the shrub-lined pathway an elderly gentleman appeared.
