Re: Letter of Recommendation for David Alexander
Dear Admissions Committee,
It is my privilege to recommend David Alexander for admission to your institution. I had the pleasure of coaching David in tennis the past several years, and during that time I came to admire not only his skill and discipline as an athlete, but more importantly, his maturity, character, and natural leadership qualities.
From the outset, David distinguished himself as a player who carried himself with a sense of responsibility far beyond his years. Whether guiding younger partners or encouraging his teammates, David consistently demonstrated poise, perspective, and integrity. He approaches challenges with a calm determination that was a joy to work with, never afraid to take on new challenges while balancing his competitive drive with impeccable class and sportsmanship.
David is also a leader by action, not just by word. I have seen him take initiative during practices, motivating peers to stay focused while stepping in to help resolve conflicts. His teammates trust him because he listens, encourages, and leads with humility. These same qualities carry over into his academic and personal life, where he holds himself to the highest standards and pursues excellence with quiet confidence. Doesn't hurt he comes from an awesome lively family.
What strikes me most about David is his maturity. While many students his age are still a work in progress, David already had a grasp of the bigger picture, understanding that success in sport and in life is about consistent rigorous effort, yet bringing passion and joy to the process throughout. I believe strongly his values, paired with his intellectual curiosity and strong work ethic, will assure that he thrives in the rigorous academic and social environment of college.
In closing, I can say without hesitation that David is one of the most impressive young people I have had the pleasure to coach. He embodies the qualities of a leader, a teammate, and a scholar. I have no doubt that he will bring great energy, insight, and integrity to your institution
Thank you for your time and thoughtful consideration of his application. Please feel free to contact me if you require any further information.
Sincerely,
Barry Buss
